According to 2007¡¯ Statistics Bulletin of the National Economic and Social Development of Zhejiang Province released recently by Zhejiang Provincial Bureau of Statistics, the energy consumption per unit of value added in almost 90% industrial enterprises of Zhejiang Province has decreased, and the energy consumption per unit of value added in large-scale industrial enterprises has declined by 8.0% over the same period of the previous year.
In 2007, the government of Zhejiang Province closed a batch of enterprises or production lines with high energy consumption and serious pollution while enterprises also enhanced technical reform of energy conservation and pollution reduction programs. According to the preliminary accounting, the energy consumption per unit of GDP across the province has declined by 4.18% over the same period of the previous year and the energy consumption per unit of value added in large-scale industrial enterprises has declined by 8.0% over the same period of the previous year, which are 0.66% and 1% higher over the previous year respectively.
Zhejiang Provincial Bureau of Statistics introduced that among 37 industry categories, there are 32 industries whose energy consumption per unit of value added have decreased by different degrees and the decline has almost reached 90% rising from 70% of the previous year; there are 9 industries with decline rate of over 10%, including nonferrous metal, textile, food manufacturing and etc.
