The United Arab Emirates is an important emerging market of our province, whose biggest city Dubai is an important trade collection and distribution center of the export commodities of our province in Middle East and North Africa. In 2007, the export amount of our province to UAE is over 3.5 billion USD with a year-on-year growth of 29%, accounting for 3.3% of gross export of our province and 25% of gross export to UAE from China. The main export commodities include textiles, garments, shoes, furniture, bags & cases, hardware, home appliances, automobile and motor spare parts, plastic products, etc. There are over 8000 enterprises with export performance in UAE, among which there are near 1000 enterprises with the export volume over one million US dollars. The United Arab Emirates has become the 8th export market of our province as well as the biggest market exported to Middle East from our province.
According to the trading conditions between our province and UAE and the exhibitions in Dubai or the institution establishment conditions of enterprises of our province in the recent years, as well as the current situation of the rising international oil price and the thriving city of Dubai, the development potential of trade in markets of UAE and Middle East is quite big. In order to thoroughly apply and implement the strategy of “diversifying trade” and “going global”, help Zhejiang enterprises to further develop the markets in Dubai and Middle East and promote the popularity of Zhejiang products in international market, our bureau is going to hold the “2008 Zhejiang Export Commodities (Dubai) Fair” in the middle of December of this year in Dubai. This fair is going to be regarded as a key overseas exhibition platform supported and built by our bureau and 70% funds will be granted as support. Municipal bureaus of foreign trade and economic cooperation as well as provincial-level foreign trade groups are expected to organize relevant enterprises to sign up for this fair.(see attachment for details)
